Allianz der Hoffnung is a foundation under the roof of DSQ Deutsche Stiftung Querschnittlähmung under the patronage of the German Chancellor, Dr. Angela Merkel.
The foundation's main objective is the funding of the CNR Center for Neuronal Regeneration, a worldwide unique research and co-ordination center in the field of neuronal injuries and diseases such as paraplegia, MS, ALS, Parkinson, etc. This center is to be established in Duesseldorf.
There is no institution worldwide taking care of the systematic collection, analysis and assessment of the internationally competing and complementary therapeutic concepts and experimental therapeutic approaches in the field of traumatic spinal cord and brain injuries.
The aims and objectives of the CNR are directed (a) to the need to control the information explosion on new, competitive and complementary therapeutic approaches in neurorepair and (b) to support the translation of basic research in neuronal regeneration into clinical application. To close these gaps in scientific information transfer and translational research the CNR will take the following measures:
The worldwide flood of scientific information on research findings regarding the field of neurorepair can no longer be handled and overlooked by individual scientists or clinicians. The CNR will close this gap by the automatic collection of the published information and the transformation into appropriate data bases, and their analysis and assessment through an interdisciplinary group of experts.
As an independent information and research center the CNR will test new therapeutic approaches for reproducibility and efficacy either in-house or in external collaborating laboratories.
